WHO WE ARE

About Us

ANAR Foundation is a non-profit organisation that helps children and teenagers at risk. Its origins date back to 1970 and it is devoted to promoting and defending the rights of children and teenagers in situations of risk and neglect, through projects both in Spain and in Latin America, within the framework of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Silvia Moroder de León y Castilla

Welcome from the President

At ANAR Foundation we believe that every child and teenager has the right to a safe and happy childhood and adolescence. That is the foundation for building a dignified future. From the start of our work, our goal has been to protect minors — first through our Foster Homes and then through our Helplines — so that any child or teenager at risk has a place to turn to, whatever their worries, problems or injustices. We are convinced that if every minor always found the help they needed, our lives would take very different paths.

I am immensely proud to work with a great team of professionals who firmly believe that every human being deserves a dignified and safe future. We will keep working day after day, with enthusiasm and effort, to make that happen.

Silvia Moroder de León y Castilla

Our vision

What we aspire to

Our vision is a world in which every child and teenager has the right to have their voice heard on every life situation that affects them, whenever their rights are violated.

Aware that they are the most defenceless people in our society, our vision is a world in which those children and teenagers have their rights fully protected.

Our mission

What our purpose is

Listen

Our mission is to listen to the children and teenagers who call us through our phone lines and the ANAR chat, as well as other technologies and communication channels that may emerge and be rolled out in society in the future.

Help

Our mission is to reach children and teenagers wherever they are to help them with their problems or worries, protect them, and empower them in all their needs in a holistic way, making them part of the solution to their own problems.

Shelter

Our mission is to shelter in our homes children and teenagers who have been left helpless, providing them with a safe and warm place that becomes a healthy reference in their lives.

Motivate

Our mission is to connect with the education system, helping children and teenagers reach deeper levels of reflection and understanding of their own reality.

Prevent

Our mission is to bring back to society, through our Center of Studies and Research, what minors tell us, so the preventive, educational and legislative measures needed to improve their reality can be put in place.

Our History

50 years of ANAR Foundation

Adapting to the new communication habits of young people, we launched ANAR Chat, a new programme of support for children and teenagers through new technologies.
With the same philosophy as in Spain, ANAR consolidated its presence in Latin America, opening foster homes in Colombia and the ANAR Phone in Chile.
Since 2010, the ANAR Phone for Missing Children cases operates under the single harmonised EU number, offering 24-hour emotional support to families, legal and social advice, and immediate connection to Security Forces.
ANAR Email has been active since 2007 as another communication channel accessible through www.anar.org, providing support to minors, families and teachers.
The Foundation is also present in schools and high schools, raising awareness of the ANAR helplines among students, teachers and parent associations.
Following the Spanish ANAR Phone model, ANAR Peru opened — the first childhood helpline in Latin America.
The Foundation, through its Research Centre, produces recognised reports and studies on the situation of children and teenagers in Spain.
In 1994 the ANAR Phone for Children and Teenagers at Risk launched — a free, confidential helpline operating nationwide 24/7, offering immediate psychological, social and legal support.
Also since 1994, the ANAR Phone for Family and Schools has been operational, a helpline for adults who need guidance on issues concerning minors.
With the same philosophy as in Spain, ANAR consolidated its presence in Latin America, opening foster homes in Colombia.
From its beginnings, the Foundation has run the ANAR Homes, foster homes for children and teenagers without an adequate family environment.
