Sign to end sexual abuse
It is estimated that one in five minors may be a victim of sexual abuse. The sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of minors is closely linked to child disappearances, both as a cause and as a consequence.
European institutions have confirmed a worrying increase in child sexual abuse material — videos and images — in recent years.
In 2021 alone, ANAR received 1,297 cases related to sexual abuse, an increase of 80.9%.
With your signature we will achieve:
- Better training for professionals: action protocols in this area are generally unknown, leaving minor victims feeling questioned, defenceless and forced to repeat their testimony again and again.
- Better professional coordination, so interventions are more effective and produce better outcomes for victims.
- Strengthening psychological support resources. Not every Autonomous Community has specialised resources, meaning many minors are seen by general Mental Health services with long gaps between appointments.
- Easier access to specialised resources. Where they exist, they are not directly accessible, so the child victim must retell their testimony repeatedly before reaching the right professional — with the risk of revictimisation.
- Affective-sexual education in schools. If minors receive this education, they will be able to recognise healthy, equal relationships.
- Informing minors about their rights: right to privacy, right to be heard, etc. Only if they know them can they recognise when they are being violated.
- Information for families about protocols. When abuse surfaces within a family, many questions arise. The ANAR Family Phone offers 24-hour guidance.
